Former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is apparently dead after a US‑Israeli airstrike on Tehran, state media reported on Sunday. The exact details were still unclear at the time of the announcement.

Earlier in the attacks, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had also been killed, and other senior officials died as well: Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh and Revolutionary Guard commander General Mohammad Pakpour.

The retaliation from Iran continued. A rocket strike on the Israeli town of Beit Shemesh in central Israel on Sunday killed at least eight people, and almost two dozen more were wounded in the attack on the city west of Jerusalem.
