At an event hosted by “Stern” magazine in Hamburg, former German President Joachim Gauck stated that he is now open to a male successor. Although he previously indicated a preference for a Catholic intellectual woman to lead the country, the 86-year-old clarified that gender is not the deciding factor. Gauck explained that while he, and many others in Germany, would appreciate a woman in the role, what truly matters is whether the person is prepared to listen, contribute, and possesses the impression that they have gained life experiences they wish to share with the nation. He did not publicly name any suitable candidates.
