Bloomberg reports that the European Union appears to intend to halt, at least for the time being, the ratification of the trade agreement negotiated with the United States. The largest factions in the European Parliament plan to suspend legislative work on approving the deal later on Monday. The EU is also demanding that President Donald Trump’s administration provide further details on its new tariff programme. Earlier, the U.S. Supreme Court had ruled that Trump’s use of an emergency law to impose his so‑called “reciprocal tariffs” worldwide was unlawful. In response, Trump announced new global tariffs.
