EU external affairs commissioner Kaja Kallas said she still sees no serious effort from Russia to bring the Ukraine war to an end.
On Monday, before a European Union foreign‑minister meeting in Brussels, she expressed a lack of optimism that the United States would share her outlook. The Russian negotiators stated that their actions were not taken seriously and that they were not willing to discuss political matters.
She added that intense pressure had been applied to Ukraine to yield and surrender, though the country is not prepared to do so-even if it would not secure a lasting peace. Consequently, Kallas stated she is not very optimistic that results will appear in the coming weeks or months.
