Albin Loidl, president of the German Association of Tour Operators (DRV), expects Gulf tourism to bounce back after the war. “The situation in the Middle East remains highly volatile” he told the “Rheinische Post”. “Our priority is to safely bring guests who are still in the Gulf region home”. He stresses that safety is always paramount, yet tourism consistently finds a way forward after crises. “We can expect the same for the Gulf region”.
Loidl pointed out that experience from past crises shows tourism is a resilient sector: once stability returns, people’s appetite for travel comes back. Tourists this summer increasingly chose package holidays. “In uncertain times, Germans rely on reliability and security when planning vacations” he said. “The flight‑package market recorded a 14 % rise in revenue this summer, and there were 12 % more guests than the previous year-a clear signal”.
He added that classic Mediterranean destinations such as Turkey, Spain and Greece will remain top choices for summer 2026.
