The match began with a spirited effort from Dresden. In the 12th minute, Alexander Rossipal struck a beautiful long‑range shot that curled into the upper corner, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead. The team under Thomas Stamm maintained the pace, and their play remained confident, but a second goal from Jason Ceka was ruled out after a VAR review for a marginal off‑side. Overall, Dresden looked more composed in the first half, whereas Elversberg’s attacks were more sporadic.
After the half‑time change, Elversberg’s performance visibly improved. Nicholas Mickelson capitalised on a long ball and a clinical finish to level the score at 1-1 in the 58th minute. In the closing stages, the away side turned the match around. Rapidly, Lukas Petkov managed to put them ahead with a 2-1 goal in the 78th minute.
Dynamo pushed everything forward in the frantic final minutes and created several good chances. Christoph Daferner even gave Dresden a potential equaliser from close range. A later Elversberg goal, however, was disallowed after a VAR handball check. Even with eight minutes of added time and numerous aerial chances, Dresden failed to find another goal.
In summary, Elversberg showcased a clear performance leap in the second half, efficiently converting their chances, while Dresden kept the game level for most of the match but lacked the consistency to secure the win.
