DAX Opens Slightly Lower Despite Nvidia’s Strong Numbers

The DAX opened the trading day on Thursday with a modest decline. By about 9:30 a.m., the index was calculated at roughly 25,115 points, a 0.2 % drop from the previous close. At the top of the daily movers list were FMC, Zalando, and Airbus, while Munich Re, Bayer, and Scout24 finished at the bottom.

Thomas Altmann of QC Partners praised Nvidia’s performance, noting that the company’s fourth‑quarter results were the best ever in its history and marked the 14th consecutive rise in profit. Nevertheless, he cautioned that those strong figures alone were insufficient to revive the broader market enthusiasm for AI. Investors remained wary.

“Nothing has changed with the DAX story” the analyst continued. Following two days below the 25,000 threshold, the index closed just above that level yesterday, but it remains stuck in a horizontal range. “It’s a trader’s market now, with many participants trying to profit from the daily ups and downs through frequent buying and selling. A definitive, lasting trend has yet to emerge”.

The euro slipped slightly in the morning. One euro traded at 1.1805 U.S. dollars, meaning one U.S. dollar was worth about 0.8471 euros.

Meanwhile, crude oil prices climbed. At 9 a.m. German time, a barrel of North Sea Brent crude fetched $71.10-an increase of 25 cents, or 0.4 %, from the prior day’s closing level.
