SV Darmstadt 98 secured a 2-1 victory over Fortuna Düsseldorf on the 22nd matchday of the 2. Bundesliga. Fraser Hornby opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a header from a Marco Richter corner. Düsseldorf equalised quickly in the 12th minute when Jordy de Wijs tucked the ball into the net with his shoulder after a Muslija corner. In the final minutes, Matej Maglica sealed the win with an 88th‑minute header off another Richter corner, giving the Lilies an early lead in the race for the top spot.
Meanwhile, SV Elversberg beat Eintracht Braunschweig 3-1. Lukas Petkov scored twice, first in the 5th minute and again in the 23rd, both after passes from Condé and Gyamerah respectively. Braunschweig’s only reply came from Aaron Opoku in the 35th minute, but David Mokwa restored Elversberg’s advantage with a goal in the 75th minute. Elversberg’s win keeps them close behind Darmstadt in the standings.
In the third match of the day, Karlsruher SC comfortably defeated Holstein Kiel 3-0. Marvin Wanitzek got the opening goal in the 8th minute after converting a pass from Louey Ben Farhat. In the second half, Ben Farhat scored to make it 2-0, and Wanitzek added a second goal to cement the 3-0 triumph.
