The operation at Cologne/Bonn Airport resumed. The police action has been concluded, the airport authority announced on Friday. Passengers are still experiencing longer wait times. The airport apologises for the inconvenience and asks those affected for understanding.
The Federal Police had cleared the security area of the airport terminals in anticipation on that morning at around 6:30 a.m. The reason, as stated by the airline operator, was a temporary technical malfunction of the security screening during the introduction of new equipment. Consequently, around 800 passengers who were inside the secure zone had to leave the area and undergo a new check in accordance with procedures. The entrance to the security zone was temporarily closed during the intervention.
Once the action ended, normal operations resumed at approximately 9:30 a.m., and access to the security area was reopened.
