CDU Holds Edge Ahead of Rhineland‑Palatinate Election with 29% vs SPD 27%

A few days before the state election in Rhineland‑Palatinate, the CDU remains ahead.

According to the ZDF Politbarometer released Thursday evening, the CDU’s top candidate, Gordon Schnieder, is at 29 %, still two points in front of the SPD, which stands at 27 %. Both parties have gained a point compared to last week.

The AfD holds third place unchanged at 19 %. The Greens are also static at 9 %. Die Linke sits at 5 %, while Free Voters are at 4.5 %, each of them just outside the threshold for entering the state parliament.

The FDP, which is still part of the state government, can no longer be assessed individually and is included in the 6.5 % that fall under “Other” parties; its share is under 3 %.
