Bundeswehr warns soldiers against public attacks amid tense security climate

The Bundeswehr’s security department has issued a warning to soldiers about potential attacks in public settings. According to a recent circular reported by the “Spiegel”, the tense national and international security climate demands a “sensitive awareness”. In particular, troops in uniform who are traveling on public transport should stay especially alert.

Soldiers are advised that criticism from certain segments of the civilian population could lead to both verbal and physical assaults. When traveling by train in uniform, they should remain vigilant and immediately report any aggression, whether verbal or physical.

Additionally, the Bundeswehr cautions all military personnel and civilian staff that, because of the ongoing war in the Middle East, there is a high abstract threat to Israeli and American citizens and institutions in Germany. Any indications of activities that could endanger security-whether involving Israeli or U.S. establishments or Bundeswehr barracks-must be reported without delay.
