At kickoff on matchday 22 of the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund defeated 1. FSV Mainz 05 4-0, extending their string of victories. Dortmund dominated from the outset, with Serhou Guirassy scoring two headed goals, in the 10th and 42nd minutes. A further header by Maximilian Beier came in the 15th minute, and all three goals were set up by Ryerson. The decisive fourth goal arrived in the 84th minute when Dominik Kohr inadvertently put the ball into his own net.
Mainz struggled to break through Dortmund’s well‑organised defence. Despite a number of chances, they failed to breach the net, and goalkeeper Jan Kobel made several solid saves. Kohr’s own goal sealed the result.
In the league table, the German club has moved one point back to within three points of league leaders Bayern Munich after their sixth straight win, while Mainz find themselves in 14th place. BVB host their next Champions League tie with Atalanta Bergamo on Tuesday, and Mainz are set to face Hamburg on Friday.
