Blizzard Strikes Germany With Nationwide Train Delays and Cancellations

Due to the winter storm, the national railway network experienced delays and cancellations across Germany on Monday. Throughout the day further disruptions were expected in the North, the railway company announced in the morning.

The long‑distance routes between Berlin-Stralsund and Berlin-Rostock were especially hard hit – no long‑distance services operated on those lines at all in the morning, and the disruptions are expected to continue throughout Monday.

On the Hamburg-Hannover line, long‑distance trains arrived with significant delays; the first ICE from Berlin, scheduled for 7:11 a.m., was not expected to arrive until around 11 a.m. Some services on this route were also canceled, according to the railway authorities.

Similar delays and cancellations were taking place on the Stuttgart-Ulm corridor in the large metropolitan area.
