Germany and Ukraine intend to share digital combat data in the future to aid in the development of new weapon systems. This commitment was formalized on Tuesday during German-Ukrainian government consultations held at the Chancellery, with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius (SPD) and his Ukrainian counterpart, Mykhaylo Fedorov, signing the agreement. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) commented on the plans, stating, “These developments cannot be overestimated. The fact that we are developing such a system with Ukraine in Europe creates a greater degree of independence for the continent”. The pact is part of a renewed “strategic partnership” between Berlin and Kyiv. Going forward, the countries plan to hold regular strategic consultations concerning security and defense policy, and to initiate high-level defense consultations. Furthermore, they aim to foster additional joint projects and strengthen defense cooperation between Germany and Ukraine.
