Bayern Munich Slams Hoffenheim 5‑1 to Secure Top Spot

During the Sunday evening fixture of the 21st Bundesliga round, FC Bayern Munich secured a convincing 5-1 win over 1899 Hoffenheim, creating breathing room at the top of the table. The comeback leaves Borussia Dortmund a full six points ahead, while Hoffenheim remains in third place.

Bayern took control from the start. In the 17th minute the referee sent off Kevin Akpoguma for denying Luis Diaz the last‑man free‑kick inside the box; Harry Kane calmly converted the resulting penalty to give the home side a 1-0 advantage. Despite the numerical disadvantage, Hoffenheim played brilliantly, exploiting a mistake from Manuel Neuer to pull level through an Andrej Kramaric penalty. Just before half‑time the Germans earned another spot‑kick, again taken by Kane, and seconds later Diaz capitalised on a counter‑attack to put Bayern ahead 3-1, sealing a decisive first half for the hosts.

In the second half Bayern largely controlled the match, produced almost no chances for their opponents, and expanded the lead. Diaz added two more goals to make it 4-1 and 5-1, while Hoffenheim, despite spirited efforts, failed to find the back of the net again. The game highlighted Bayern’s potent attacking output and showcased Hoffenheim’s valiant but ultimately ineffective fight against the odds.
