Bayern Munich Claims DFB-Pokal Glory After Thrilling Leverkusen Victory

FC Bayern München advanced to the end of the cup after defeating Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 in the DFB-Pokal semi-finals. The decisive goals scored by Harry Kane and Luis Díaz secured the win and returned the record cup winner to the final after several years.

The Bavarians dominated the game from the start, using their superior ball possession to press the hosts. Leverkusen initially struggled to implement any serious offensive play, and Bayern repeatedly created chances throughout the first half. It was in the 22nd minute that Bayern got the breakthrough; Harry Kane scored from short range, slotting it past the bottom corner.

Despite the setback, Leverkusen remained unable to break down the solid defense of the visitors for long periods. Bayern continued to look dangerous, but they missed opportunities to expand their comfortable lead, partly due to blocked chances or saves from the strong Leverkusen goalkeeper, Mark Flekken.

Following the break, Leverkusen became noticeably more aggressive and generated initial chances. In the 52nd minute, Nathan Tella missed scoring on Manuel Neuer with a precise shot, and shortly after, Patrik Schick’s header narrowly stayed wide. Nevertheless, Bayern remained the team closer to scoring a second goal.

In the final phase of the match, Leverkusen ramped up the pressure, going all-out. However, the Bayern defense held firm. While the visitors failed to score on counterattacks, the ultimate decision came deep into stoppage time. Luis Díaz scored the final goal in the 4th minute of added time, making it 2-0. This result secured a much-deserved victory for Bayern, propelling them into the final.
