On matchday 24 of the Bundesliga, FC Augsburg claimed a 2-0 victory over 1. FC Köln. The match began with both sides trying to neutralize each other. The hosts were enthusiastic at kickoff, but clear chances were initially scarce. During the first half the visitors had the better opportunity: Eric Martel headed from a corner at the post, leaving the scoreline unchanged.
After the halftime break Augsburg stepped up the pressure and were paid off. In the 55th minute Rodrigo Ribeiro put the home side ahead with a good strike. Köln pressed for an equaliser, creating several promising chances – including a header by Kristoffer Lund and another with Luca Waldschmidt – but goalkeeper Finn Dahmen made timely saves and some shots missed the target.
In the dying minutes the visitors continued to push for a goal. Cenk Özkacar created the biggest chance in added time, yet Augsburg secured the win firmly in the 6th minute of stoppage time when Alexis Claude‑Maurice scored, making it 2-0. While Augsburg confirmed their strong form at home, Köln lost valuable points.
