Zelenskyy to Address US Congress Monday

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to Washington D.C. on Monday, following a conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, according to a statement released Saturday.

The meeting will focus on “all details regarding the cessation of killing and war” Zelenskyy stated, expressing gratitude for the invitation.

During the call, President Trump initially briefed Zelenskyy privately on the content of his recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Subsequently, European leaders joined the conversation. Neither Trump, Putin, nor Zelenskyy disclosed specific details or potential agreements reached during discussions.

“We support President Trump’s proposal for a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States and Russia” Zelenskyy stated. He emphasized the importance of European involvement “at every stage” to collaborate with the U.S. in establishing “reliable security guarantees”. Discussions also included “positive signals” from the U.S. side regarding potential contributions to ensuring Ukraine’s security, he added.
