Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has voiced support for a joint statement released by European leaders regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
In a post on X/Twitter Sunday, Zelenskyy stated, “The end of the war must be just”. He expressed gratitude to “all who stand with Ukraine and our people, defending the vital security interests of our European nations and working for peace in Ukraine”. Zelenskyy affirmed Ukraine’s unequivocal appreciation and support for the European declaration advocating a peaceful resolution.
The joint statement, released ahead of a planned meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, welcomes Trump’s efforts to bring an end to the fighting in Ukraine and establish a just peace. However, it emphasizes that only a comprehensive approach – one that combines active diplomacy, continued support for Ukraine and sustained pressure on the Russian Federation to cease its illegal war – can ultimately prove successful.
