Zelensky's Warning: US Aid Cuts Could 'Burst the Security of Any Country'

Ukraine’s President Warns of Grave Consequences if US Aid is Cut or Stopped

In an interview with German media outlet Axel Springer, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned of the devastating consequences of a potential reduction or cessation of US aid to his country. Zelensky stated, “This is a bomb or a mine if the help is taken away from Ukraine. This can blow up the security in any country.”

US Defense Minister Pete Hegseth had previously announced plans to reduce aid in the next defense budget, prompting Zelensky’s concerns. According to the Ukrainian president, the current US aid is flowing uninterrupted, but there are no new promises in place. Zelensky emphasized that a reduction in aid would be felt not only in Ukraine, but also in other countries, particularly in Europe, creating a wave of risks for all nations.

The Ukrainian leader expressed hope that US President Donald Trump would impose swift and severe sanctions on Russia, stating, “Trump must introduce the sanctions, so that Putin immediately says, ‘Let’s talk about the end of the war.’ It won’t work otherwise.” Zelensky also believed that, in a historical sense, restoring peace in the world would be the most important task for Trump, adding, “I don’t think I should dictate to him his priorities, but I think it’s his mission as a president to stop Putin, because he can.
