Zelensky's Hidden Pain

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Time with Family Limited Amid Ongoing War

In a rare moment of introspection, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has spoken about the sacrifices he has made in his personal life since the outbreak of the war. In an interview with RTL Direkt, the President acknowledged that he has devoted most of his time to the war effort, likely missing out on important moments with his children.

Zelensky’s wife has been taking on the responsibility of raising their son and the President expressed his confidence in her abilities. He noted that his son, at a certain age, craves the kind of bonding that only a father can provide, a sentiment that may not be shared with his sister or mother. In contrast, his daughter, now an adult, has grown up quickly and understands the gravity of the situation.

The President expressed his hope that Germany will play a prominent role in any future peace negotiations, citing the country’s diplomatic and reconstruction capabilities. Zelensky also praised German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, saying that he believes in Merz’s leadership skills and is grateful for the support of the German people towards Ukraine. The President hopes that under Merz’s leadership, significant progress can be made in the country’s relations with Germany.
