Woltemade Joins Newcastle From Stuttgart

Newcastle United has secured the immediate transfer of German international forward Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart, both clubs confirmed Saturday.

Woltemade will wear the number 27 shirt for his new team. The player expressed his enthusiasm for the move, stating, “I am really happy to be at this great club. From the first contact, I felt the club really wanted me and has big plans for me”. He further added, “It’s a big step in my life to leave Germany, but everyone has made me feel so welcome that I already feel like part of the family. After speaking with the head coach, I have a good feeling that this is the right place for me to give my best.

Newcastle’s head coach Eddie Howe commented, “We are delighted to have signed Nick so quickly. He fits the profile we were looking for in our attacking options.

Specific financial details of the transfer remain undisclosed, though reports suggest a fee of up to €90 million was involved. Unconfirmed sources indicate an annual salary in the range of €7 to €9 million.

Newcastle United is majority-owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund. The club is set to compete in both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League in the 2025/26 season.

Woltemade joined Stuttgart on a free transfer from SV Werder Bremen in the summer of 2024. During his time with the club, he made a total of 36 competitive appearances, scoring 18 goals and providing three assists. The 23-year-old was Stuttgart’s top scorer in the 2024/25 DFB-Pokal with five goals, playing a pivotal role in the team’s victory in the national cup competition. His contract with Stuttgart was originally valid until June 30, 2028.
