Volker Wissing, former Federal Minister for Digital and Transport, has accepted a new position as chairman of a newly established advisory board for Christ Capital, a company led by entrepreneur Harald Christ, according to reports in “Der Spiegel”.
Wissing and Christ share a long-standing acquaintance, both originating from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and having been active members of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) until late last year. Both individuals resigned from the FDP following the dissolution of the governing coalition, expressing dissatisfaction with the party’s role in the events leading to the coalition’s breakdown.
In his new role, Wissing will advise Christ and his corporate group on matters of long-term corporate strategy and investment decisions. The group’s portfolio includes Joschka Fischer & Company, a consultancy founded by former Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer of the Green Party.
The German federal government now requires approval of Wissing’s new position. The former minister informed the Chancellery of his new activity on Thursday.
