German Government Unconcerned about Trump’s Potential Absence from NATO Summit

Berlin, Germany – The German government does not anticipate US President Donald Trump’s last-minute cancellation of his participation in the NATO summit in The Hague. According to Government Spokesman Stefan Kornelius, the summit has been weeks and months in the making, with NATO member states having already confirmed their attendance. “We have no reason to assume otherwise” Kornelius stated in a response to a question from the German News Agency on Monday in Berlin.

When asked if there is a contingency plan in place in the event of a sudden cancellation or Trump’s early departure, as seen at the G7 summit in Canada, Kornelius replied that he was not aware if it would be considered an “emergency” but emphasized, “In any case, there is no plan.”

Recent speculations had suggested that Trump might reevaluate the priority of the NATO summit due to the situation in the conflict with Iran.
