A representative of the Brandenburg Association of Cities and Municipalities, President Oliver Hermann, is urging for a compromise in the collective bargaining negotiations for the public sector.
According to Hermann, who spoke on the RBB-Inforadio on Monday, the key is to reach an agreement and ensure a stable planning environment. He noted that the region has experienced a good economic development over the past decade, but that is no longer the case. The association is lacking the rising revenue, while costs are increasing.
Hermann emphasized the need for a balanced approach in the negotiations, ruling out zero-rounds for the employees, stating that they at least should receive an inflation adjustment. He also highlighted the importance of reviving the economy, citing the planned infrastructure special fund as a suitable measure.
The ongoing third round of collective bargaining negotiations for the public sector failed to reach an agreement over the weekend, as planned and has been extended by at least a day.
