Will Boris Pistorius' Secret Talks Bring an End to the War?

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius Arrives in Kiev for Political Talks

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius arrived in Kiev, the Ukrainian capital, on Thursday morning for political discussions with the Ukrainian government. The minister’s visit aims to inform himself about the current situation in Ukraine and to discuss further military aid for the country, which is under attack from Russia, according to sources.

Before his trip, Pistorius emphasized that Germany would do everything in its power to support Ukraine so that it can defend itself and Russia is prepared for “serious negotiations.”

Despite recent peace efforts, Russia has recently intensified its drone and rocket attacks on Ukraine. The country reported the largest drone attack since the start of the war, with 479 combat drones of the Shahed type and their mock-ups, as well as four hypersonic rockets of the Kinschal type, 14 different cruise missiles and two air-to-ground rockets of the Ch-31 type, used in the attack.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the intensified attacks are not a response to the surprise attack on Russia’s strategic bomber fleet at the beginning of the month. Instead, the trend shows that Russia is not interested in peace.
