CDU’s Linnemann Set to Join Coalition Committee, Report Says

The German Christian Democratic Union (CDU) has reportedly agreed to have General Secretary Carsten Linnemann join the coalition committee, according to the Rheinische Post, citing party sources.

The committee, initially planned as a nine-member group, is set to be expanded by two “notetakers.” CDU Chancellor’s Office Minister Thorsten Frei and SPD Finanzstaatssekretär Björn Böhning are expected to take on these roles, the sources said.

Representing the CDU, Party Chairman and Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Fraktionschef Jens Spahn and others will also be part of the committee. The SPD will send Vice-Chancellor and Party Chairman Lars Klingbeil, initially SPD Co-Chair Saskia Esken and Fraktionschef Matthias Miersch. For the Christian Social Union (CSU), Party Chairman Markus Söder, Innenminister Alexander Dobrindt and CSU-Landesgruppenchef Alexander Hoffmann will be represented in the coalition committee.
