The German Bundestag has approved the extension of several international military deployments, with the majority of lawmakers voting in favor of the government’s proposals.

In the Kosovo mission, led by NATO, the German military will continue to play a role in ensuring public security and order, as well as supporting the development of a stable, democratic and multi-ethnic Kosovo. The mission, known as KFOR, will be extended for another year, with up to 400 soldiers to be deployed. This decision was backed by 391 lawmakers, with 189 against and two abstentions.

Similarly, the German military deployment off the coast of Lebanon was also extended, with 393 lawmakers voting in favor, 180 against and two abstentions. The mission, known as Unifil, will continue to focus on securing the Lebanese borders to prevent the influx of arms and military equipment into the country. Key tasks include monitoring the sea and air space of the mission area, as well as securing the Lebanese coastline and territorial waters. The deployment of up to 300 soldiers will remain unchanged.
