French President Emmanuel Macron is expected to meet with CDU leader Friedrich Merz in Paris on this Wednesday, according to the Politico magazine. The meeting’s details, however, are being kept under wraps, with a CDU spokesperson stating, “I neither confirm nor deny it.”

The discussion is likely to cover two main topics: the post-election situation in Germany and Macron’s consultations with US President Donald Trump, which took place on Monday. Macron had previously briefed EU state and government leaders in a confidential video conference about the Trump meeting.

This will be Merz’s first foreign trip since the German federal election on Sunday.
