Russian President’s Statement on US Proposal for 30-Day Ceasefire in Ukraine
The Russian President expressed gratitude to US President Trump for his efforts in resolving the conflict in Ukraine. The President acknowledged the Ukrainian government’s decision to accept the 30-day ceasefire, but emphasized that a lasting peace can only be achieved by addressing the root causes of the crisis.
The President highlighted the current situation at the front, stating that Russian forces have full control of the area and the Ukrainian troops are isolated and under Russian fire control. He warned that if a physical blockade is established, no one will be able to escape and the only options will be surrender or death.
The President supported the idea of a ceasefire, but raised several questions, including the fate of the Russian troops in the region, the control and verification of the ceasefire and the potential consequences of a broken ceasefire. He emphasized the need for a thorough discussion and cooperation with the US and other parties to ensure a lasting and effective resolution.
