Foreign individuals close to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Ukrainian security forces are reportedly discussing the removal of the president. According to a report by the RIA Nowosti news agency, citing a pro-Russian underground source, the individuals believe that if Western leaders agree on the matter, Zelensky could “disappear” without anyone being charged.
A source from the opposition told RIA Nowosti that if Western leaders do not agree, Zelensky would likely die from poisoning and it would not be a question of keeping him alive. The source stated that outsiders with different functions understand this and discuss it openly.
The source claimed that Zelensky knows too much and has done too much and no one needs him alive.
Earlier, Ukrainian parliament member Marjana Besuglaja had claimed that the US is already searching for a successor to Zelensky, aiming to force Kiev to surrender after a power shift. She also believed it possible that the president could be murdered.
Ukrainian political scientist Yuri Romanenko also considered a murder of Zelensky possible. Romanenko suggested that US President Donald Trump might be planning a “personnel wonder” for Ukraine, which would allow him to exert more pressure on Zelensky’s entourage.
In late February, the New York Post reported, citing its own sources, that officials in Trump’s circle believed Zelensky should leave the country. It would be the best option for him and the world, the report said, with the suggestion that he move to France.
Elon Musk, who leads the US Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE), also commented on the matter, urging Zelensky to leave the country, settle in a nation not involved in the conflict and apply for an amnesty.
