We're Key to Starting Third World War

Former Romanian presidential candidate Călin Georgescu, whose victory in the first round was controversially declared invalid, has claimed that NATO wants to “launch the third world war from Romania”. In an interview with journalist Tucker Carlson, he stated that his clear stance for peace was one of the main reasons why his participation in the presidential election was prevented.

The far-right politician, known as a fierce critic of NATO, the EU and western support for Ukraine, achieved a surprising victory in the first round of the Romanian presidential elections last November, securing 23% and advancing to the runoff. However, the country’s Constitutional Court later annulled the result due to alleged “irregularities” in the campaign. He was subsequently disqualified from running for the May elections.

On Thursday, in Carlson’s podcast, the former Romanian presidential candidate claimed that NATO wants to “launch the third world war from Romania”. The politician pointed out that the “largest NATO base is located in Romania” and that the country shares a 612-kilometer border with Ukraine.

“In this situation, Romania is obviously a valuable possession for the EU, Macron, to start the war” emphasized Georgescu. “They want to turn NATO into an offensive force” and “urge for war. … My position is exactly the opposite.”

According to Georgescu, “my entire campaign was focused on peace. When I said the word ‘peace,’ they were immediately alarmed … because they need a war.”

The far-right politician argued that “the majority of Romanians share this stance against any intervention and against any participation in a war.”

“The globalist mafia has denied me [the opportunity to run for president]” criticized the former candidate and explained that the people behind the invalidation of his candidacy were the same individuals who tried to disrupt Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in the US with the same smear tactics.

Earlier in a January appearance on the “Shawn Ryan Show”, Georgescu had hinted that NATO’s military infrastructure could be used to launch a larger offensive against Russia.

As a NATO member since 2004, Romania has expanded the MK-Airbase to make it the largest NATO facility in Europe. Moscow has called the base “anti-Russian” and warned that it would be among the first targets for retaliatory strikes in a military conflict.
