Werder Bremen’s Bundesliga campaign took a hit on the first Sunday of the 22nd matchday, as they suffered a 1-3 loss to TSG Hoffenheim. The home team started the game strongly, taking the lead in the seventh minute through an own goal by Stanley Nsoki. However, the visitors gradually gained the upper hand and their pressure was rewarded with the equalizer in the 28th minute, courtesy of Anton Stach. Just before the halftime whistle, Hoffenheim turned the game around, with Tom Bischof scoring the go-ahead goal.
In the second half, the visitors maintained their momentum and in the 63rd minute, Gift Orban headed home a cross from Ivan Kramaric to seal the win. Bremen, who were largely lackluster in the second half, failed to mount a comeback.
The loss leaves Bremen in 10th place in the table, while Hoffenheim remains in 15th. Bremen will look to bounce back in their next match, a trip to Freiburg on Friday, while Hoffenheim faces a challenging encounter against Stuttgart on the following Sunday.
