Minister of Health’s Office to Undergo Staff Changes
The German Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) is set to undergo a personnel shift, with Michael Weller, the head of the department for Healthcare and Health Insurance, announcing his departure. According to the Ministry, Weller will leave the BMG by the end of June and a replacement is being prepared and will be appointed in a timely manner.
Weller’s responsibilities included setting the fundamental principles for the statutory health insurance and he played a crucial role in the controversial hospital reform under the previous minister, Karl Lauterbach of the SPD. The impending departure of Weller could signal a shift in the hospital policy of the Ministry.
