European People’s Party Chief Manfred Weber, a member of the Christian Social Union, is pushing for swift decisions towards Europe’s military independence.

“Week of Truth”, Weber told Politico news magazine, “Europe must finally take responsibility for its European defense.” The CSU politician added, “We need concrete steps towards a real European defense union by Thursday.”

On Thursday, European state and government leaders will meet in Brussels for an extraordinary summit, focusing on further support for Ukraine and European defense.
