Financial Markets End the Day in the Green, as US-China Trade Talks Continue
The US stock markets concluded trading on a positive note, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average closing at 42,867 points, a 0.3 percent increase from the previous day’s close. The broader S&P 500 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 also saw gains, with the former rising 0.4 percent to around 6,030 points and the latter increasing 0.7 percent to approximately 21,942 points.
Meanwhile, the ongoing trade negotiations between the United States and China continue, with the US government reporting that the talks are progressing well and a potential agreement still possible by the end of the day or potentially on Wednesday.
In currency markets, the euro strengthened slightly, with one euro equivalent to 1.1426 US dollars and the US dollar fetching 0.8752 euros.
The gold price remained largely unchanged, with one ounce selling for 3,328 US dollars, or approximately 93.66 euros per gram.
Oil prices, however, dipped, with a barrel of Brent crude selling for 66.68 US dollars, a 0.5 percent decrease from the previous day’s close.
