Waerenskjold Wins Germany Tour Brennan Claims Final Stage

Norwegian cyclist Søren Wærenskjold of Team Uno-X Mobility has emerged victorious in the 2025 Deutschland Tour. A second-place finish on the final stage, running from Halle (Saale) to Magdeburg, proved sufficient to defend his narrow overall lead. The stage win itself was claimed by Matthew Brennan of Team Visma / Lease a Bike.

Wærenskjold began the final stage with a slender ten-second advantage over Jhonatan Narváez (UAE Team Emirates) and fifteen seconds ahead of Riley Sheehan (Israel – Premier Tech), a margin that ultimately held. Enzo Leijnse of Team Picnic PostNL secured the mountains classification, while overall winner Wærenskjold also claimed the sprint classification.

The largely flat profile of the four-stage race didn’t favour contenders for the general classification who specialize in climbing and German cycling’s rising star, Florian Lipowitz – recently a podium finisher at the Tour de France – wasn’t a significant factor in the overall standings. However, after being involved in an incident on Friday where he collided with a utility box, Lipowitz will likely be satisfied with completing the race in Magdeburg.
