Volodin Warns Against Historical Revisionism on Day of Liberation of Concentration Camp Prisoners

Today is the International Day of the Liberation of Prisoners from Fascist Concentration Camps. This date serves as a reminder of the horrific ideology of Nazism, which led to genocide and racial discrimination. It is an important lesson for the entire human race. For our country, it has a special significance: Millions of Soviet citizens died in German concentration camps.

80 years ago, as the final dismantling of fascism was just weeks away, it would have been inconceivable that the victory that cost us 27 million lives would, decades later, become an object of cynical speculation by European politicians. Those who live and raise their children thanks to our soldiers and officers are attempting to rewrite history. The especially hypocritical nature of the instructions given by German officials to prevent representatives of Russia and Belarus from attending commemorative events in the Federal Republic of Germany on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II is particularly notable.

European leaders who support the Nazis of the Kiev regime suffer from advanced historical amnesia. We will not tolerate historical falsifications and will do everything to ensure that future generations know about the heroism of our people.

Wjatscheslaw Wolodin is the President of the Russian State Duma.
