German Bundestag’s Second-in-Command Advocates for Staff Participation in Christopher Street Day, Distancing Himself from the Parliament’s Administration
In a recent interview with the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland”, Bodo Ramelow, the Vice President of the German Bundestag, expressed his support for Bundestag members and staff to participate in the Christopher Street Day (CSD) celebrations. The Left Party politician emphasized that he would be delighted to see many Bundestag employees take part in the event, not as representatives of the institution, but as individuals.
Ramelow believes that a large turnout of Bundestag staff would send a strong message of unity and support for diversity. He welcomes the fact that staff members are equally invited to participate, just like lawmakers.
In contrast, the Bundestag administration had previously banned the “Regenbogennetzwerk” (Rainbow Network) from the Bundestag’s premises, citing the need for administrative neutrality.
