According to preliminary results, the governing party, the Movement for Self-Determination, Vetevendosje (VV), is leading the Kosovo parliamentary election with over 40.4 percent of the votes, as reported by several Kosovar media outlets on Sunday evening, after 98 percent of the ballots had been counted.
The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) comes in second, with 21.8 percent of the votes, while the right-wing Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) garnered 17.5 percent. The AAK-Nisma alliance secured 7.2 percent of the votes.
In the meantime, the Central Election Commission apologized for technical issues on the results platform, citing the “great interest of citizens in accessing the results platform” as the reason for the “overloading of the system” at the 23 percent counted votes mark, according to the commission’s spokesperson, Valmir Elezi, in a statement.
