Max Verstappen secured victory at the Formula 1 race in Monza, Italy, marking another dominant performance for the Red Bull driver. Lando Norris of McLaren finished in second place, closely followed by his teammate Oscar Piastri to complete the podium.
The race began with an early incident in the first corner, involving Verstappen and Norris. Verstappen briefly relinquished the lead but quickly regained it, setting the tone for a race punctuated by multiple pit stops and strategic overtakes.
A notable moment arose in the closing stages of the race when a team order within McLaren sparked discussion. Initially, Piastri was called into the pit lane, followed shortly by Norris. However, issues during Norris’s pit stop resulted in Piastri temporarily taking the lead. McLaren subsequently requested Piastri to allow Norris to pass, a directive the young driver ultimately followed.
Behind the leading trio, Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) secured fourth place, followed by George Russell (Mercedes), Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) and Alex Albon (Williams). Gabriel Bortoleto (Sauber) rounded out the points-scoring positions. Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) contributed two points to his team’s tally with a ninth-place finish, while Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls) secured one point in tenth.
German driver Nico Hülkenberg (Sauber) was unfortunately sidelined before the race commenced due to a mechanical issue. The next Formula 1 race is scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan in two weeks.
