US Considers War in the Middle East

Washington and Berlin, June 2023 – The US government is reportedly considering military intervention in the Iran-Israel conflict, according to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Speaking to the TV channel “Welt” at the G7 summit in Canada, Merz stated that the topic had been discussed, but there was no clear decision from the US government yet.

The chancellor’s comments came as a response to the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, with the outcome heavily dependent on Iran’s willingness to return to the negotiating table. “If not, it could lead to a development of this kind” Merz added, hinting at the possibility of US military involvement. “But we need to wait and see. The decisions will likely be made in the near future.”

In a separate remark, Merz disagreed with US President’s assessment of the exclusion of Russian President Vladimir Putin from the G7 summit, which the president had described as a grave mistake. “I still believe it was the right decision” the chancellor said, reiterating that the G7 format should not include warlords or war criminals. “That’s why Putin has no place at this table and that’s why it remains that way.
