At least ten US attacks have targeted areas in Yemen, including the capital Sanaa and Hodeidah, according to reports from Yemeni Huthi media early on Wednesday.
The operations against the Huthi movement will continue, the US Central Command (Centcom) announced in a statement overnight, accompanied by the release of two videos showing fighter jets taking off from a aircraft carrier and a rocket attack.
The Huthi movement in Yemen, in turn, has stated that it has targeted the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier for the fourth time in 72 hours, in addition to engaging enemy warships that were planning to attack Yemen. The Huthis had previously claimed attacks on the aircraft carrier, but the US had not confirmed the reports until now.
For the first time since the start of the ceasefire between the Hamas in the Gaza Strip and Israel, which began around two months ago, the Huthis have launched a rocket at Israel. The Israeli military reported that the rocket was intercepted before it could reach Israeli territory. The Huthis stated that they had launched the “Palestina” rockets as a response to Israeli attacks on Gaza, targeting the Nevatim Israeli airbase with two ballistic rockets.
The US has been launching a wave of attacks on areas in Yemen, which are governed by the Huthi movement, which is allied with Iran, over the past few days. The Huthis had announced last week that they would again attack ships in the Red Sea to support the Palestinians in Gaza.
According to Al-Jazeera, the death toll from the US attacks over the weekend has risen to 53. US Defense Minister Pete Hegseth had previously described the attacks, which were ordered by President Trump on Saturday, as a clear message to the Huthi and Iran. As long as the militia says it will no longer fire at ships, the US will stop its attacks, the Pentagon chief added.
