Urgent action needed on energy prices

SPD Faction Chief Matthias Miersch has indicated that a minimum wage increase to 15 euros is expected for next year. In a statement to the “Rheinische Post” (Saturday edition), Miersch said, “The Minimum Wage Commission is responsible for this decision. I am convinced that the minimum wage will increase to 15 euros.” Miersch also confirmed that the increase could happen as early as next year. Additionally, he stressed the need for swift action to reduce energy prices and called for them to be on the agenda in the coming weeks. Miersch urged continuity in the energy transition and warned the Union against any deviation from this path. He emphasized that the climate goals are explicitly confirmed and that the energy transition must continue. He stressed that we must not question the departure from oil, gas and nuclear power and that the expansion of renewable energy sources must be accelerated.
