German politician Dorothee Bär, deputy chair of the Union’s parliamentary group, defends the so-called “Small Inquiry” by the Union regarding the financing and public benefit of non-governmental organizations.
According to a report in the Rheinische Post, Bär stated, “For us, it’s about the question of the political neutrality of state-funded organizations.” “In the course of this, we have submitted a total of 551 individual questions to the federal government and are now waiting for the corresponding information.”
Bär further stated, “It is a completely normal procedure if a parliamentary group in the German Bundestag inquires about how public funds are being used. Therefore, I must admit that I was very surprised by the outcry from some quarters.
