Union's Lead in Jeopardy?

A recent survey by the INSA institute shows a significant shift in the German public’s opinion on the upcoming Bundestag election. The survey, published in the Bild newspaper, suggests that a black-red coalition (CDU/CSU and SPD) would no longer have a parliamentary majority if the Germans were given another chance to vote.

The survey found that the CDU/CSU has lost a percentage point, now standing at 27%, while the AfD has gained a percentage point, now at 23%, reducing the gap to just four points.

According to the survey, the SPD has also lost a percentage point, now at 15%, while the Greens have gained one percentage point, now at 12%. The Left, BSW and FDP have maintained their previous percentages.

The survey also found that the majority of respondents, 64%, agree that the recently passed debt package is correct, while 32% disagree.

Regarding the likelihood of a black-red government being formed, 71% of respondents believe it will happen within the next few weeks, while 21% think it will take longer and 5% do not think it will happen at all.

The survey also touched on the topic of the Ukraine war, with 77% of respondents doubting that Russian President Vladimir Putin has a genuine interest in a ceasefire and 50% of Germans believing that Ukraine should compromise on occupied territories in exchange for a ceasefire.
