The CDU’s immediate plan after a government takeover is to implement the Five-Point Plan proposed by Union Chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz, focusing on combating illegal migration.
According to a report by the “Rheinische Post” on Saturday evening, the 15-point emergency program to be adopted at the CDU party convention in Berlin on Monday outlines measures to establish permanent border controls, reject asylum seekers at the borders and impose a time-unlimited arrest for deportable criminals and danger poseurs. The program also emphasizes the need to push forward with the law to limit the influx of asylum seekers, which was rejected in the Bundestag on Friday.
The Union’s emergency program aims to boost the economy quickly and ensure greater security. “The challenges are immense, every day counts” the document states. The program includes measures derived from the party’s election program, which the Union believes are realistic given the need for rapid political decision-making. The specific measures mentioned include reducing the electricity tax and network fees, streamlining bureaucracy, introducing an active pension and exempting overtime from taxation. In the area of security, the plan focuses on limiting migration and implementing the storage of IP addresses, as well as introducing ankle bracelets for violent offenders against women.
