Union Holds Slim Lead Over AfD in New Poll

A recent poll indicates a continued, albeit narrow, lead for the CDU/CSU alliance in Germany’s projected parliamentary composition. Conducted by the opinion research institute Insa for “Bild am Sonntag” the survey, encompassing responses from 1,287 individuals between September 1st and 5th, 2025, shows 26% of respondents currently favoring the CDU/CSU.

This figure remains unchanged from the previous week, sustaining a slight advantage over the AfD, which also holds steady at 25%. The Social Democratic Party (SPD) follows with 15%, while the Green Party saw a one-point increase, now standing at 12% and regaining position ahead of The Left, which remains at 11%.

According to the poll, the BSW and the FDP would not be represented in the Bundestag, receiving 4% and 3% of the projected vote respectively. Other parties collectively garnered 4%, a decrease of one percentage point.
