Union Demands Radical Shift in Security and Migration Policy

As the alleged attack in Munich unfolded, the Union has once again emphasized the need for a shift in its security and migration policies.

“Today’s alleged attack in Munich, which has shocked people gathered peacefully for a rally, is yet another proof of the urgency of a shift in security and migration policies” said Thorsten Frei, the parliamentary business manager (CDU), to the “Rheinische Post”. “Our population must finally be protected from violence and terror once more.”

This includes, he added, stopping “illegal entries” by rejecting those at the borders. “For CDU/CSU, the course change in security and migration policies has top priority after the federal election” Frei said. “We have laid our concept on the table.” Now, it is up to the voters to give the Union a mandate for this. “Just as we have seen new attacks unfold within just a few weeks, it simply cannot go on like this” the CDU politician added.
