A new poll conducted by Forsa indicates a continued tight race between the conservative Union bloc and the AfD party, both holding steady at 25% of voter preference. The survey, commissioned by RTL and ntv, reflects ongoing shifts in the political landscape.

Trailing behind the leading contenders, the Social Democratic Party (SPD) secures 13% of the vote. The Green Party and The Left party each garner 12%, while the BSW party holds 4%, the Free Democratic Party (FDP) stands at 3% and other smaller parties collectively receive 6%.

Notably, the proportion of non-voters and undecided individuals remains significant, reaching 24%. This figure represents a substantial increase compared to the proportion of non-voters recorded in the previous federal election (17.9%).

Public satisfaction with the performance of Chancellor Friedrich Merz has also seen a continued decline, reaching a new low of 32%. A majority, 64%, express dissatisfaction with his work. Support remains largely confined to CDU and CSU voters, with 76% expressing approval. SPD supporters, however, show considerably less satisfaction, with only 34% approving of Chancellor Merz’s performance.

The data, reflecting voter preferences and satisfaction levels regarding Chancellor Merz, was collected between July 29th and August 4th, 2025 and is based on a sample of 2,503 respondents.
